Vice Mayor Maria G. Marino joined Palm Beach County Engineer David Ricks on Friday, May 17, to announce the reopening of westbound Donald Ross Road at Bascule Bridge, one week ahead of schedule. Following unexpected delays during the eastbound road closure, EPW took proactive measures to prevent further delays before commencing work on the westbound side of the bridge. As a result, both sides of the hydraulic and electrical systems have been replaced within the Donald Ross Road Bridge, ensuring its structural integrity and reliability for years to come.

The Donald Ross Road Bascule Bridge, a vital link spanning the Intracoastal Waterway, has undergone extensive renovations as part of a proactive infrastructure investment initiative. This project aims to preserve the longevity and functionality of the over 20-year-old bridge span, ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation within Palm Beach County. EPW will continue working on the remaining scope of work within the bridge enhancement project. This work is expected to conclude before September 5, 2024, with no future lane closures anticipated.

EPW recognizes the inconvenience caused by the closures and extends sincere gratitude to the community for their patience and understanding throughout the restoration process. This project emphasizes EPW’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the safety and efficiency of the transportation network and infrastructure within Palm Beach County.
