On May 9, 2019, Commissioner Valeche joined Mayor Bernard, and representatives of Environmental Resources Management, the Learning Academy at the Els Center for Excellence, and the FAU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at North Jupiter Flatwoods Natural Area to celebrate its distinction as the first natural area in the state certified as autism-friendly.
The addition of a few new amenities and adjustments has made the site more welcoming to a diverse group of visitors to have the chance to experience the truly unique sounds, smells, textures and colors and this special natural area.
