Palm Beach County high school students were invited to attend the first Careers in Aviation Day on Sept. 25 that took place at NetJets located at Palm Beach International Airport. The event provided students an opportunity to learn about several career paths in the field of aviation. They met with aviation executives in the public and private sectors including representatives in the fields of air traffic control, airport security, catering, aircraft maintenance and engineering, education, law enforcement and fire rescue.

The program also included sessions with professional service representatives including Transportation Security Administration and Federal Aviation Administration employees, maintenance managers, aircraft technicians and airport planners. After lunch, attendees had the chance to get a close-up view of aircraft parked outside that are used by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and aircraft rescue and firefighting.

The event was well-attended, and planning has already begun for the next Careers in Aviation Day.
