Commissioner Marino joined the Harris family and County Environmental Resources Management officials at DuBois Park along the Jupiter Inlet to present a proclamation declaring December 10, 2021 Andrew "Red" Harris Artificial Reef Day in Palm Beach County.

The Andrew "Red" Harris Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created in 2014 to honor the memory of a young diver, snorkeler, and fisherman who lost his life in a tragic snorkeling accident. The foundation is dedicated to assuring the long-term health and vibrancy of the coastal waters off of Palm Beach County by building artificial reefs. They have donated over 17,560 tons of artificial reef material to Palm Beach County, equating to more than $1M in donations. The reefs provide food, shelter, protection, and spawning areas for numerous marine species, while reducing user pressures on the natural reef system.
