At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on April 4, 2023, Commissioner Bernard presented a proclamation declaring April 22, 2023 as Earth Day in Palm Beach County. This year marks the 53rd anniversary of Earth Day, a national day to focus on the environment and which is credited with launching the modern environmental movement. The county’s Strategic Planning and Performance Management Environmental Protection Cross-Department Team, made up of 13 departments, includes one of six strategic priorities for the county that promotes programs and activities that protect, preserve and enhance natural resources while providing sustainable living and developing a climate of resilience.
