​At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 2, 2023, Commissioner Bernard presented a proclamation declaring May 25-29, 2023, as African American Golfers Hall of Fame (AAGHOF) and African American Collegiate (AAC) and Youth Golfers Hall of Fame (YGHOF) Week in Palm Beach County. The AAGHOF was established to recognize golf pioneers, honor the legacy and achievements of all African Americans involved in golf since the early 19th century. In ​2005, the AAGHOF, AAC, YGHOF and Inner City Youth Golfers Inc. established an annual historic event where the African American golfing community can network, interact and share golf stories since the 1800’s and honor all of the outstanding individuals and organizations who have substantially increased public awareness of African American excellence both on the golf course and in our communities.
