At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on July 11, 2023, Vice Mayor Sachs presented a proclamation declaring July 11, 2023 as Healing Kids' Hearts Day in Palm Beach County. Healing Kids' Hearts was created in June 2019 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization to support the emotional well-being and healing of children in Palm Beach and Broward counties who have experienced foster care and/or adoption. It has successfully created programs that promote healing, and personal and emotional growth. With the expertise of a licensed mental health counselor and an equine specialist, Healing Kids' Hearts uses horses as a healing device. The calming effect that a horse can provide enables a child to work through early childhood trauma.
