At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Oct. 3, 2023, Commissioner Baxter presented a proclamation recognizing Dr. Heidi Schaeffer for receiving the 2022 Spirit of Community Award from the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. The award acknowledges meritorious women and men who have improved the lives of Florida women and served as positive role models for women and girls in their community. Dr. Schaeffer is an indomitable force in the advocacy against human trafficking and domestic violence and has made significant contributions to the safety and well-being of women and families in Florida. Her tireless commitment to community service is evident through her partnerships with esteemed organizations such as Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse Inc., South Florida Human Trafficking Task Force and the Human Trafficking Coalition of the Palm Beaches.
