At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Oct. 3, 2023, Commissioner Bernard presented a proclamation declaring October 28, 2023 as International Creole Day in Palm Beach County. An estimated 12 countries in and around the Caribbean Sea speak a form of Creole, including Haiti, Dominica, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. Palm Beach County is linked to the Creole-speaking countries from the Caribbean by geography as well as common aspirations. During International Creole Day, we pay tribute to the richness and diversity of Creole ethnic, artistic and cultural heritage and urge all residents to take part in activities and observances designed to increase and celebrate diversity in our county.
