On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Commissioner Woodward attended the 10th Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala hosted by Horses Healing Hearts, a local nonprofit organization. The commissioner joined about 100 other attendees for an evening supporting the organization’s programs providing equine-assisted therapy for children experiencing mental health and behavioral issues, including those with grief and trauma from parental substance abuse and alcohol addiction.
Horses Healing Hearts, founded in 2009, is based in Delray Beach. The organization also hosts children’s addiction prevention programs and a mentorship program that pairs kids with high school and college students. For more information, visit horseshealingheartsusa.org.
