Commissioner Valeche to Unveil Completion of Long Awaited Bluegill Trail

Reporters and photographers are invited to join District 1 Commissioner Hal Valeche for an unveiling of the final section of the Bluegill Trail, part of the Northeast Everglades Natural Area (NENA) trail system on Thursday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Karen T. Marcus Sandhill Crane Access Park in Palm Beach Gardens. There will be a short opening ceremony followed by a ribbon cutting and opportunity to explore the southern section of the recently constructed trail. 

The 10-mile multi-use trail was constructed in phases and now has an improved surface, shade shelters, observation platforms, and road crossings to connect Riverbend Park in Jupiter to Grassy Waters Preserve in West Palm Beach along the east side of the C-18 Canal offering amenities at Karen T. Marcus Sandhill Crane Access Park and spectacular views of the county's Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area.   

Funding partners include Palm Beach County, Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) and Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

IMPORTANT NOTES:  

  • Casual dress and comfortable shoes are recommended.
  • There are restroom facilities available at this site.
  • Guests are welcome to explore the new trail section at their leisure.

DIRECTIONS to ceremony site from I-95 or FL Turnpike: 

Exit PGA Boulevard and go west. The park entrance is approximately two miles west of the Florida Turnpike on the right hand side.
