Equestrian use of County-managed natural areas is limited to certain areas and is authorized by permit only. Currently, equestrians may ride at the
Royal Palm Beach Pines Natural Area and on portions of the
Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area, both of which are located within the
Northeast Everglades Natural Area (NENA), a collection of 165,000 acres of natural lands and activity and education centers stretching from Southern Boulevard in Palm Beach County to Bridge Road in Martin County and from Lake Okeechobee to the Atlantic Ocean. NENA provides residents and vistors a wide range of nature-based outdoor recreational opportunities.
ROYAL PALM BEACH PINES NATURAL AREA
Equestrian use facilities at the Royal Palm Beach Pines Natural Area include
a 2-mile loop riding trail and an equestrian bridge crossing. An equestrian
use permit for riding in this natural area must be obtained in order to gain access to the riding trail.

LOXAHATCHEE SLOUGH NATURAL AREA
NENA Bluegill Trail north of PGA Boulevard is UNDER CONSTRUCTION and currently is CLOSED to equestrian and other user groups.
Temporary equestrian trails in the Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area are located
in the northwest portion of the natural area and on NENA's Bluegill Trail and Pântano Trail, both of which run along portions of the C-18 Canal levees. Riding on these trails is authorized under a temporary
general permit issued by ERM.
