Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)
Marlene Etienne, VPK Coordinator

In July 2008, Palm Beach County Head Start was approved to provide VPK at 19 of its sites, including delegate agencies and contract provider partners, serving 606 children. VPK was initially implemented in 2002 to give all of Florida's four-year olds access to a quality pre-kindergarten educational experience. Our program participates in the 540-hour School Year VPK program.

English Language Learners
We believe that language, culture and learning are intertwined and successful Head Start and other early childhood education programs implement systems and practices that embrace this philosophy.  Head Start/Early Head Start programs will seek to promote English Language Learners’ acquisition of English while supporting their home language.
