"The Disappearance," published by The Permanent Press, is the story of the disappearance of 14-year-old Daniel Sandler from a small town in Massachusetts.

"The Disappearance" was named an Indie Next Notable Book by the American Booksellers Association and was recently released as an audiobook from Blackstone Audio. Efrem is also the author of a previous novel “The Kermanshah Transfer.” His short stories have appeared in Xavier Review, Pleiades, Quercus Review, Nimrod, Lynx Eye, Potomac Review and elsewhere and have won a number of prizes. His pieces about Israel have appeared in The Jerusalem Post, Midstream and Congress Monthly. He is also the author of five nonfiction books.
After a career in business journalism and business publishing during which he founded and ran two newsletter publishing companies, Efrem now concentrates on writing fiction and essays. He lives in New York City.
