Minority/women business owners are invited to attend a free seminar this Saturday, March 20, hosted by Commissioner Priscilla A. Taylor on how to become certified to do business with Palm Beach County.
The meeting will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the County Commission chambers, sixth floor of the County Governmental Center, 301 N. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach. Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the program beginning at 8:45 a.m.
Palm Beach County solicits competitive bids for goods and services, but you must be a certified vendor. Commissioner Taylor hopes to spur greater participation by businesses owned by women, African-Americans, and other minorities. County staff from the Office of Small Business Assistance will be on hand to help process the necessary paperwork.
Business owners who have preregistered with the Purchasing Department, and bring a completed SBE certification application with all supporting documentation may become certified on site. There is a $150 non-refundable application processing fee which must be in the form of a cashier’s check or money order made payable to the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.
To preregister, please go to www.pbcgov.com/osba and www.pbcgov.com/purchasing/pdf/vendreg.pdf. For more information, please contact District 7 Administrative Assistant Willie A. Miller, Jr. at 355-2207 or Small Business Development Specialist Tonya Davis-Johnson at 616-6840.
