Commissioner Santamaria Hosts Fourth Glades Community Forum

District 6 Commissioner Jess Santamaria held his fourth Glades-area community forum on October 8 at the Dolly Hand Cultural Center in Belle Glade. About 60 west area residents attended the three-hour open discussion.

Topics included the new Lake Region hospital, public safety, stormwater system upgrades, housing rehabilitation, community revitalization, the proposed inland port, and new employment opportunities in aerospace and biofuel production.

Invited speakers included Lakeside Medical Center Administrator Brian Gibbons, Fire Rescue Chief Steve Jerauld, Houston Tate and Ruth Moguillansky-DeRose of the Office of Community Revitalization (OCR), community activist Jermaine Webb, Palm Beach Community College Provost Dr. Marcia Hardney, and the mayors of Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay.
