Palm Beach County made an important commitment to Florida's future by bringing both the Scripps Research Institute and the Max Planck Society to South Florida. Located on Florida Atlantic University's Jupiter campus in northern Palm Beach County, hundreds of scientists and researchers will be working to find cures and treatments for many diseases in the years to come. The presence of these two biomedical research giants is expected to attract top-level pharmaceutical and medical-related companies to the area. To achieve the vision of a world-class biotechnology center, nearly 10 million square feet of space has been identified within 10 miles of the Scripps headquarters. This region is known as the North Palm Beach County Life Science Corridor. The Corridor is composed of properties under the zoning and land-use jurisdiction of Palm Beach County and the municipalities of Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Park, Riviera Beach and Mangonia Park. More than 2½ square miles of undeveloped land in the Corridor have already been approved for bioscience purposes.
